hi, here it goes. i have a punto 55s, with a 1.2mpi 60bhp enigne running off the original 1.1 ecu. i have fitted a straight through exhaust which i made myself. and made my own sports filter useing a k+n induction kit and some extra tubing to avoid heat problems. the thing is i want more power out of this engine and dont want to get rid of it. as it is a 3 week old recon engine. so no buy a gt etc etc. how can i get more power? turbo? or supercharger. i can weld anything etc. this car is my currant hobby and i dont really mind how long it takes to get it done. i want a seamingly slow punto to be a wolf in sheeps clothing

there's a limit to how much power you can get from a 1.1, and from what i've heard on this site, sticking turbos etc. on to a standard car buggers up your car so it's not worth it, you'll be ruining a perfectly good engine imo

get a 2.2 VTEC engine from a Prelude and a load of welding stuff, some tape a lot of money and you'll have one sh*t quick punto., :D
failing that you could just save your money and get a better punto, it would cost a fortune to tune it and you'll never recoup the money when you sell it.,

So you've had an engine swap to the 60 engine? 1.2 8v spi. Er well I think it was Munkul Had either 75 or fast road cams and a Mcritch chip as well as exhaust and induction on his old 60 and it got him 10bhp (seem to recall it RR at 68.7bhp up from 58) but its never going to be fast with that engine in it without serious money.

Uprated cam shaft, poted inlet manifold and ported and polished head would give you some gain on your original engine. You could supercharge or tubo it, but this is a very long and involved process which is very hard to get right. Hope that helps,
Alan

First of all, well done for making stuff yourself. Not enough people do this anymore.

Secondly, as commented, there are practical limits if you don't want to start throwing money at it. I'd maybe even just give it a decent service and check that the brakes weren't sticking at all, things like that?

ermm wolf in sheeps clothing ay?

i would actually agree that it would ruin a good engine if you tried putting a turbo on etc if i were you (depending on how old u r) get a punto HGT? or punto JTD? either of these would scare the ****e out of some normal 1.2 cars as i find it appaling on the lack of people who actually know what a HGT or JTD is! seriously people unless uve owned one or know someone who has got one how many people have asked u what HGT or JTD stands for and what it means? haha its like us askin what does GTI stand for!
