Hi,

Bought a Punto 1.2 off a friend at the weekend, and he left the interior light on after cleaning it. The battery is dead but even when I try to start it with jump leads it son;t do anything. Does anyone have any ideas? Has the battery immobilised the car? Is it easy to re-start???

Cheers

are you saying that the engine turns over but wont start or is it completly dead?

are the warning lights coming on when ignition turned on?

are you using jump leads or a jumper pack? jump leads are better, and have the other car running when you do it. connect the black leads to something metal in the engine bay and the red to the + terminals, leave it for a few mins and then see if it will turn over, if the engine is turning over ok then the battery isnt the problem. if it starts but cuts out when you remove the jump leads then its the alternator thats causing the problem.
