hi i have a punto 02 plate 5 door 1.2

i was driving my car a few days ago when i drove the car over a bump it made a very loud screeching scratching noise which sounded like it was from the back of the car....

i currently have 17inchs alloys on my punto and never had any problems, or noises like this from my car..

if any one knows why, or have came across this, could they please let me know?

Hi mate,

Its probably an idea to take off your back wheels and inspect both the inside and outside edges of the wheel and tyre. My guess would be that they have rubbed, possibly on the upper metal bolt of the shock absorber.
If its made that sort of sound, then i would imafine it would have left some visable marks.

hmm i see,
i'll definately take to the garage get it checked....it only makes the noise over a bump that is what i have realised.. thing is i only drove the car 2 days before gave the car a clean nothing wrong with car...drove the car 2 days later and it was making this loud noise...

do u think it will be expensive? will i need to get shock absorbers? do u think tyres will be damaged..

Hi mate,

If it only happens going over bumps, then its almost certainly the wheels rubbing. Shoulnt be too expensive. May just need a set of spacers or some slightly thicker/thinner ones if you already have them. Yo can pick up a decent set for around £20 on E-bay.
