Help lol
where exactly do i fit the motors to convert my car to c/l

2000' Mk2 Punto - Bog Standard
no central locking no electric windows

i bought a rightclick kit off ebay, have the door cards out but where to place and attatch the motor is driving me crazy lol might be trying to fit it to the wrong area of the lock any ideas ?

any pics and as much info as possible would be great lol and much appreciated lol (y)

Re: central locking help

Where did you post it to ..did you try punto tech section ..welcome to the forum by the way (y)

Re: central locking help

motors are placed in a suitable place so that the attatched rod can be clamped on to the door knobs (bit thats pop up & down) so normally in your case you would mount the motors upright underneath the lock/release knobs.

I normally screw them to door frame underneath, you need to adjust them up & down to get right 'throw' to lock/unlock doors.

Re: central locking help

You would need to mount motor roughly in position shown but remember....

take into account the rod (which can be cut) so move motor up/down accordinally

take into account the window coming down doesn't foul on the motor or rod

you will need to probably bend the rod to suit.

connect motor rod to the rod shown on the pic above...when locks are operated the motor pulls down, this pulls the rod down which is connected the car rod thus locking door (as if you are pushing the button down to lock door) when unlocked the opposite happens.

Theres a bit of trial & error involved to get motor & rod in correct position & first door will take longest.

aww thnks m8 lol :D
that really clears things up lol (y) ill go out and fix and have fun getting it just right lol

some guy btw  good to know still some nice decent people thtll help yoo out when your stuck :D

REMEMBER to roughly position everything first,be 100% sure nothing will foul (especially the glass coming down:rolleyes:) & as I mentioned the motor itself might have to be mounted further up/down so try different positions before wou drill any holes!!!!

When you do find suitable position dont over tighten the motor mounting screws or this will compress the plastic case of the motor causing it to operate slowly & burn out.

so far no luck lol :|
found a suitable space for the motor but access to the button which goes up and down to lock the door is bad. that black plastic thing whatever it is , completely gets in the way.

the other rod which you drew the connector going onto seems to just work the door handle so dont know if it would work being attacthed to this.

dont wana be complainin or tht thoguh lol  was great of you drawin the pics out

jst dissapointed i didnt manage to get it fitted today (N)
as now its absolutely freezing outside and getting dark (n)

any other ideas welcome lol ..
also anyone on here whos fitted a universal c/l kit by rightclick and have any pics of the finished product lol
they would much appreciated :D(y)

see in the first picture (with my pathetic drawing on) I also drew the rod going up this attatches to the rod just above it (with the black plastic tip that you push down/pull up)....is this the same rod that I said to clamp to on pic 2? If its going to the outer door handle I apologise but thats good because it will make it easier to fit.Can you put the clamp on the rod with the black plastic tip that you push down/pull up?

in the first pic you drew on it did just go straight up to the black door button which gets pushed down. second picture sure goes to the door handle no worries bout tht lol .

been looking so far and acces to the actual rod connected to the button is awful that big black bit more or less covers that rod as i could fid the motor below it and get it attatched if i was able to get in somehow and put the connection to join the two on it.

what exactly is tht big black plastic big for ? and would it be best to remove that so enables me to fit the clamp/connection and join the two and onto the motor ?

this black bit

that sounds like a no bad idea atleast would have some acces to it then, jst hope rods long enough but should be ok if fit it higher up *

thnks for all the help btw. ill get on it straight away 2morow and fill yoo in if i manage it or give up lol and jst stick to unlocking both doors by key lol (n)
