Technical Central locking Help!!!

for anyone doing this you need to know it is not as str8 forward as the guide suggests and their is alot of fiddleing around and tweeking needed to be done and even then it may not be perfect, it is a big job to take on in terms of being time consuming but its up to you to decide weather you think all the work is worth not having to turn the kwy in the lock

Chris, I agree it does require alot of time, tweaking and fiddleing.

I just remembered something from looking at my guide again.

You said in pm that you drilled your own holes, if you look at the way my motor is lined up you can see that it is NOT straight up, this is for a reason. I couldnt get the locking to work properly if it was straight up, because it was hitting something inside the door, this is why i had to drill 2 holes for the top hole as the motor NEEDS to go at an angle.

And, for me yes it would have been worth a week of fiddleing and tweaking! :)

I originaly did put it at the angle you suggested but it was catching against the round blue bit that holds the screw for the door card in place, i dont see how having it at an angle can be better than having it str8?

hmm well when i had it straight up it was catching on something in the door so it wouldnt lock, i mean if it was working in that position but u just had to remove that one screw or not screw it in, then i mean missing 1 screw wont harm it

I guess the more ppl do that do this and experience problems can always be added to the tutorial (which i wrote in like an hour after doing mine) to help others

Well i did mine differently and it seems to work! basically i have got the motor facing str8 up but i have put the Rod/lock connector on the ther side of the lock pin than you have it. For the door to be locked the pin has to be pulled to the bottom right of the hole and your actuator being at that angle and having the connector on the left of the lock your does that and mine being str8 and on the right also pull it to this location, both are plausable.
The only problems are that they work fine but once you put the door card over the pin it restricts the movement again but you just have to work round this which is why its so fiddely.

could you post some pictures if you have a camera :)

would be good to get a few methods, all i know is mine works perfect but i did fiddle around abit :)

Would love to post some pics but i really dont want to take the door cards off again! lol i have had enough of them to do me for the whole of the year! Just imagine my rod connector is on the right not the left of the lock and my actuator is str8. Also i was thinking of installing universal electric windows but after the central locking ordeal iv thought again as the thought of having the door cards off and runnig more wires thorugh that tiny hole make my head hurt so might leave that one for a while haha!

lol, i hear ya, i was thinking of doing the windows aswell, but im gonna get a £10k pay rise in october so ill just buy a nice car lol although when i do pass im pretty sure ill get annoyed with manual windows as ill be doing 1500miles+ a week (love 40p a mile for business miles :D)
