My airbag lights have come on on my 2003 Punto 1.2 8v active.
Could this be an easy fault to fix, or is it the airbag controller that has gone?

Cheers

Take it to Fiat mate, its not worth messing around with safety devices, especially ones that could explode whilst your driving down the road, may just be a case of needing the fault code re-set, also it could be the wiring loom under your seat (£40 job from Fiat) or a new Airbag ECU which costs £200 from Fiat plus fitting or £100 from breakers.

they charge £76 just to find the fault and turn the light off.

i know the fault, they still want £76 JUST to turn the light off (n)

i got mine turned off by a Fiat specialist for £35

try another fiat garage, or ask the 1st garage why it's so expensive? its only like a 20 minute job

they say because the whole test needs to be run to discover the problem, they cant just turn it off.

grr.

More than likely needs loom section renewing (very common, dealer fit only) your looking at around £80 all in.

no, i swapped my wheel from standard to a sporting and had to drive to halfords halfway through with the airbag off to get a 24mm nut. hence the light has stayed on as a security measure. all i need is for them to turn the light off ahhhh.

someone once said theres a couple of wires in the loom under the glovebox that cause the problem.....
my uncle had the problem on one of his mk2's, he "uncrossed" them (i wish i could remember exactly what it was)
