General Cam Belt Change?

My Punto Sporting Speedgear is 5 years old and has done 30k miles. Should I change the cam belt?

Cheers.

Yes!. Age is just as detrimental as millege as the rubber will be starting to degrade, crack and go shiney etc.

The general opinion on here is do it every 3-4yrs and 45k-50k to be on the safe side. There not very common for snapping though compared to alot of engines but when they snap its expensive to fix :(.

Your obv very lucky then!

If you have a FIRE then if the belt goes its not major as its a safe engine and shouldn't do any damage. However if you have the 16 valve etc then expect there to be some expensive damage. Bent valves etc. Best thing to do is change it according to manufacturers recomendations.

lol the engines broke now hydrolock... it aint running no more... lookin at new engines now

I got my 60S cambelt done with the top spec belt, tensioners, pulleys etc for £125 all in but was quoted up to £180 and even more from the stealer! The 60S is cheaper because there's less work due to no PS.

Would this be the same for the 60SX?

What does PS stand for?
