I've noticed over the last few weeks the rear suspension on my car has started making a 'knocking' sound when going over bumps. Ive heard this is quite a common problem on Punto's (mines a MK1), but im not sure what the problem actually is, and if its ok to carry on driving around in it. It certaintly doesn't handle as it should when taking corners hard. thanx for any help.

well the comon problem you are talking about is rear suspension arm failure. as name suggests its part of suspenion. it should be ok to keep driving but you will need to get it sorted as it will get worse and worse if this is indeed your problem. im not exactly sure what the worse case cenario is if you just keep drving though. my sister drove with hers broke for 6 months [V] then got it fixed when she had money

2001 Punto sporting in sprint blue with matching Mr Bump air freshner all together now mmmmmmm

could be the swinging arm bushes, new swinging arm is about £55 or as on mine subframe bushes, fiat dont sell these but they sell a bodge repair thing that goes over the top, motor factors sell them for about £15 but you will need to make a tool to fit them with. i have photos of tool if its needed.

Thats because you work for fiat, you won't be fitting "new ones" fiat don't do them. you will be fitting the fiat rubber cup bodge thing that covers the old one up, the tool is needed if you do a proper job and remove the old one, the tool presses the new one in the sub frame.
here is the tool.

Edit, No offence to you its what fiat tell you to fit,
