ok guys this is my second post my first was hello,,,well i have searched and can not find my answer so i will ask what sort of mpg should i get out of my 98 1.7td ..i think they have 60bhp....the reason i ask is i keep seeing people saying they get high 40s too low 50s where as at 65mph for a 50 mile run on the M1 doing it for a full tank i no stop start just nice cruising i am lucky to get 42mpg....i change the oil and air filter every 8k so i am at a loss :bang: so i just got to ask ???

People lie abbout mpg, so common....

Or they take it to open road and cruise 90kmh in 6th gear, they see the figures on display and voila! That's their mpg!

The book MPG for the 1.7 TD is 43MPG so by the sounds of it, yours id doing about right. You are also correct in that it is 60BHP.
As with any fuel consumption concerns, check all your tyre pressures etc. Could also try something like 10k boost if the engine hasnt had a proper clean out for a while.
