Hi All,
I recently (2 weeks ago) had the pleasure of having to spend over two hundred pounds at a local Fiat Main Dealer having a new Air Pressure Sensor and KC Sensor ? fitted to my 2004 1.3 Multijet Diesel. These items where fitted because the Engine Management Light had come on. The Car has ran perfectly for two weeks but yesterday I noticed a fairly loud and distict whine which to my ear sounded like the Turbo. The noise can be controlled by the Throttle. There is no Power Loss and the Car runs great. I returned to my Dealer who after a short road Test diagnosed a Faulty Turbo. In view of the recent work carried out the Car has been booked in for a Diagnostic Check. The Dealer tells me that a new Turbo costs in the region of £600 which will cripple me. The Car has done 38000 miles and has had 6000 mile Oil changes. Any advice before the Car is taken in most appreciated.
Thanks, Mike Tee

check turbo fins for damage (pull off pipe & look inside)

check for excessive play in the rotor

you shouldn't feel any play on a good turbo

what kind of oil has been through it every 6 months also

sometimes turbos can get noisy but never fail simply due to the air rushing over the blades causing vortices

it sounds like the dealer has simply read all the codes on your ecu and replaced the parts that have been reported faulty weather the fault codes read intermittent or present which is a sign of a bad mechanic with no ability to test anything

if you read the fault code memory of any car it will have a few intermittent faults this don't mean anything is faulty just maybe a lose connection or someone has unplugged something wile the ignition is on so i cant understand why they just replace things what were they replaced for anyway

also can you elaborate on the kc sensor what do you mean buy this

do you mean crank sensor
