is it possible with the time and effort to fit a turbo to a punto 1.1 55s, as mine is off the road i wanna fiddle with it, yes its only a 1.1spi............ but i have the time to mess about and the car really is to nice to just swap 4 an uva bigger engine one. ive seen others questions on this but cant really find out if something like this is possible. . ., yes i kno about pushing them to far etc with the speed etc as my friend blew his head at 100mph, just want to kno wot can i change on this engine as like ad a turbo lol, or make it mpi, etc. . . . . i have the time and stupidity to try these things lmao. just wanna play with it and see what i can create, i have all the tools available and my nextdoor neighbour is a welder. jst a thinkin out loud, want a slighty odd project. thnx (y)

I think you will find it is more complex than a "fiddle about" my friend. There are all sorts of changes and requirements to add a Turbo, lowering the compression ratio being just one. You need a take off point for exhaust gasses, somewhwere to bolt the Turbo, wiring and possible cooling changes for oil and water, there is probably plenty more than that. Honestly, while we share your enthusiasm and admire your spirit the plan is a very big one.

Good Luck! :)

a turbo conv would involve custom manifolds, the turbo obviously, a new fuel map. Take a look in the cinq/sei section...they should be the ebst people to tel lyou about turboing the 55 engine.

If you spend thousands, and tune the engine to it's maximum, IIRC your looking at max. 120bhp or less.

Lets think about this, it would be cheaper to sell it, and buy a GT, which would also give you more power, and be more reliable.

If you really *need* to tune your engine- GSR induction, mckcrich chip and a 40mm throttle body will take it up a notch, but not much. Plus, the SPI will not give more than 80bhp, and if you bolted on a MPI head, well your just adding even more £££ for not much gain.
