Hi all,

I had a diagnostic test for ma Fiat Punto 1.2 2001, my car has few ECU :bang:errors these are;

  • Battery Valtage
  • Fuel level Sensor
  • brake light
  • side/tailights
  • Door lock
When i open rear wiper the car stops for no reason. some times rear wiper starts working by it self, and rear wiper makes noises, i thinking to buy new rear wiper motor, but i dnt no if that will solve the problem..:bang::bang:

please reply me, asap.

Never heard of the ecu controling the lights, it may be an electrical error, who diagnosed it for you?

it could just need a new battery as ecu's can be quite sensitve to voltage irregularities and it having a wobbly :)
my old alfa wouldn't turn the fuel pump on if the voltage dropped below 11v even though it turned over fine

or you have an earth problem try cleaning all the contacts

I don't know, some man came down with hes van and he had a laptop, he checked everything and on the screen it says;
ECU Errors
  • Battery Valtage
  • Fuel level Sensor
  • brake light
  • side/tailights
  • Door lock
Thats it.

there seems to be allot of this rear wiper related ight related engine stopage going on

that is unless of course you are posting lots of times

but i think i have the answer

i worked on a car today that smelled a bit musty as if it ha been wet but at the time it was pretty dry

but it was having the same problems as yours

engine stopping and random things operating all the time like rear wiper side lights lights on dash bulb warnings and such

it came out with similar errors too

after checking the obvious things i started to look at some conectors on the internal fuse board and body computer and to my surprise found some green on one of the connector to the front of the fuse board

also the bottom red relay had welded it's self in with green

so i took the body computer and fuse board off the car and took them apart buy uncliping the plastic casings i fount the multi layer circuits in the fuse board were absolutely caked in green and corrosion at the bottom and also the body computer had a little water damage in it

so i think you should do the same inspect both these items for damage

it's just about the only 2 things on the car that could cause such random faults

that's the reason i was snooping around them myself

i anyone else on the forum knows of someone with the same problem as i said i'm sure i seen this on here before

can they be so kind as to link them to my post here as i believe it will be of great help in fixing these cars

edit: i just read the last post in the link posted buy t4 above interesting how he car i was working on had the same symptoms

so it could be both really

The problem is now solved. the rear earth screw was very loose and this caused the problem to happen. the car came to a stop because the fuel pump also gets its earth from the same place.

thank you for all help

ah yes the pump would try to earth through the rear wiper which is earthed both sides when off meaning it will operate in reverse untill the perk switch is triggered powering it round so it seemingly works on it's own much ike the way an indicator would earth through a brake light bulb when a lamp unit has no earth
