Hi mate,

The ignition switch is the bit you put your key in to start the car. I can take a photo if you like, but i'm guessing you know where it is lol. New one will set you back £85 from fiat unless you can get the broken but of key out. May be able to loosen it up by using some penatrating fluid.

EDIT: heres a pic i took a while ago anyway. Ignore the numbers etc...

Good luck,

rubish

it's likely your key has become kinked in your pocket or similar and become stiff in the lock/locks or th steering lock may have been the culprit

keys hat have a deep cut near the shank are prone to this problem of bending and breaking

the ignition barrel can only be removed in the mar position as a both

i you can put the non snapped end in and persuade it to turn then you can remove it buy pressing the button through the hole in the cowling but if not it's going to be a case of trying to get the bit out

retrieving the broken bit is easy if you have the barrel out

but hard if you can't get it out

you may end up needing new lock set for your car installing and programming to the ecu

but again the old barrel can only be removed in the mar position

you my need to remove the barrel carrier buy tapping round the shear off bolts holding it to the column with a centre punch then replacing that to with a new lock set

it's probs gona be a dealer job unfortuanately

Done one last week but needed new steering lock (£70) took about hour including retrieving the broken bit of key, stress, frustration, throwing tools across workshop etc but better than full lock set so saved customer £hundreds and we got tin of chocs:yum:

ive got the key out and the spare is the same so i know both keys are not ****ed but the fiat dood said its the switch which looks like where the barrel sits into.i have bought a new lock set but that will not work cos of the codes i just need some info on replacing the switch:slayer:

to get the lock barrel out turn to mar and press in the little tab on the side and pull to chnge the switch

if you can't turn it at all your pretty stuffed

you'll need a new lock set and steering lock and switch
