if you read the post a few weeks ago you will know that im having trouble with piston slap.

i confronted the manager at my local dealer and subsequently got asked to leave with threats of phoning the plod. They didnt like me shouting in the showroom whilst customers were there.i tried my best ladies and gents but all i got was that they are looking into a solution, they cant fix it yet and the number for fiat customer care.

Hi,

You should have told them you would call the Police and have them arrested for fraud for claiming to be mechanics :D:D:D.

HI room users, i decided to join this forum after typing in "fiat panda piston slap) into search engine...
Here is my story..... Bought new panda 1.1 active from car supermarket (Cars 4U) in November everything appeared fine until a few weeks ago when i noticed engine noise when car was started from cold which went away when engine warmed sound was like light camshaft tapping.
I had been planning to find a fiat dealer and take a piece of video footage highlighting the problem due to fact it went away after mile or so.
Yesterday wife was using car when all the panel lights came on after just 50 yards so she turned around n came back home.
She contacted fiat customer services who put us in touch with nearest dealer. We had to arrange recovery ourselves....
I contacted them today to be told they are awaiting fiat to reply to their email after they told them my car has major piston slap...... present milage is just 1005 miles.....
seems this is not isolated problem, i would assume means engine rebuild so god knows when i am likely to see the car.

No offence but I would do the same....i.e. call the police, nobody has to put up with being shouted at,not only is it immature it's disrespectful, how would you like it?!
Why dont you sit down & speak properly to the manager tell him of your concerns,if no further foward ask for the area manager to call in on a pre-arranged date to discuss the fault with yourself.Shouting & bawling will get you knowhere & a possible ban from the dealership.

this was sooooo last year :p :D

edit year before that even

the police wouldnt do anything as there arnt really any offences though (well yeah there may be s5/BoP but hardly a crime!)
perhaps going another route checking the law in regards sale of goods act, www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog has some very good bits on it which may be helpful! Its unacceptable that they provide such a bad service so swat up on your stuff and have a go at round 2!!!!

Time is an illusion, lunchtime doublely so......anyway you ain't seen my fashion sense;)

Dealers are on private land,if a customer is abusive he can be quite rightly asked to leave the premesis,if he/she refuses then the police can be called & do remove them from the premesis...have seen this carried out many times(thankfully not at my present dealership I should add!)...the end result is always of course the customer calms down returns & apologises & the car is rectified in a civilised adult manner. No member of any staff wether it's the motor trade, social service, police, retail, industrial is expected/deserve to be subjected to verbal or physical abuse from any member of the public!

If the work is done, usually the engine gets changed rather than rebuilt, which is the cheaper solution. If this doesn't sort out the problem European community law gives you the right for a full refund on the car or another car of the same spec and description.

Too much other stuff to do mate,5th kid due in few weeks, double workload at work meaning will have to bring alot of it home with me in the evenings(dont get in till late anyway),weeks of training course coming up,moving house soon etc...basically less time on PC(I didn't realise how many hours per day I spend online:eek:) & more time with my family so something has to give & it certainly aint my family.
