Hi all. My first post and I do hope you can help my much-loved 1998 'S' reg Punto Turbo Diesel with 85,000 miles ...

Just filled it with a full tank of diesel, and a mile or so later, a funny buzzing noise came from under the bonnet, so I stopped the engine and when I turned on the ignition, theres now a loud uneven buzzing noise from under the bonnet (drivers side behind the dash). If I dont start the engine, the noise stops after maybe 30 seconds ... but is still audible when the engine starts.

Is that the fuel pump? Is it about to die? Don't think the fule filter has been bled for a bit, so could this be due to water in the filter? I noticed that one of the hoses on the fuel filter was loose and leaking diesel, so I tightened it. Could air have got in? (the engine is running fine, and no hesitation).

I have to engine 19. Diesel . I need to buy diesel pump. it is not turbo. How do i knwo which pump it fits with mine ? when i am buying from ebay ? Should i give the chasis no and serial no ?

Yes it could just be air as you found a leak. It would be worth having the fuel filter changed if you do not know when it was last changed.
