hiya lads, just picked up my mk2 punto today. good car, but there's one little thing that bothers me. now i'm a military driver, so i'm used to driving landrovers and daf 4tonne trucks which have pretty stiff clutches etc.

now i'm not on about the clutch pedal, i'd like to know whether or not i can adjust the point at which the clutch "bites" if you lot see what i mean. it's a bit high for my liking, meaning i tend to rev the knackers out of the punto :D without actually getting anywhere (but backwards if i'm facing up a slope!)

could the clutch stiffness be adjusted as well?

thanks!

gaz

I know what your saying, the clutch biting point is very high. Normally you would just adjust the clutch cable in the engine bay but like ive already said you may have a hydraulic clutch (which doesnt have a clutch cable so to speak) and i dont think it can be adjusted - id guess your clutch possibly needs replacing.

if it's a punto and the clutch is hard to use

there are only ever 2 reasons

1 it needs anew clutch

2 you really cant drive

as i'm sure you can drive and i don't want a black nose I would say replace the clutch and see how it feels

well, i've only just bought it, and the dealer (an old family friend) did get his blokes to check everything (or so he said) so it's probably down to me just taking a while to get out of truck/land rover/military vehicle mode

mabye I'll get a clutch and a haynes manual etc. and wait to see how it goes.

meh, thanks peeps!
