I have just fitted a gearbox into my punto 1.2 elx along with a new clutch. Everything was going fine and dandy until i went to drive it of the drive for the first time.

Everything works no knocks or bangs but i cannot get firth gear. When i removed the gearbox i removed the upper gear linkage by removing the 8mm nut (one next to battery area) . If i fiddle with the linkage on top of the box (8mm nut) or slightly slacken the nut it works fine but if i tighten it , it stops working

i have a 2000 reg, punto ELX i sometimes have trouble getting the car in 5th gear as its not right over on the right like our other punto. for example

||| our other punto is right over for 5th

have u tried driving and changing the gears @ 30mph

How does it go in 2nd? Grumpy?
