Hello.

As I was parking my car up last night the clutch pedal seemed to "go". As I depressed the pedal, it kind of made a click/pop noise and now won't activate the clutch. The pedal travels all the way down to the floor but still springs back by itself. At first I thought that the clutch cable had snapped, but then realised it has a hydraulic clutch I.E. no cable.

The hydraulic fluid reservoir doesn't appear to have lost any fluid.

Could it be a problem with the clutch cylinder (either the master or the slave)?

Many thanks in advance.:)

Hey up.

It's a Y reg 1.2 8V Punto (2001 Mk2). It's done 109k miles (i've done 100k of those) and this is the first thing to go wrong with it.

Result!!!...I think.

I removed the battery and battery tray to get a good look at the clutch slave cylinder and, there before me, as proud as punch, was the plastic slave cylinder piston. It was poking through the rubber gator and the end had snapped off. A few presses of the clutch pedal confirmed that this was obviously the problem.

For some reason it had decided to snap whilst under load.

I shall order a new one and hopefully that will be all sorted.:)
