even though its just a 1.2 8v, I'd still recommend the selenia oil. MIte as well give you motor the best!

What you want...
- Selenia 20k 3-5 litres (about £7 a litre)
- Fiat oil filter
- Forte Engine Flush

You should be able to pick up the filter and selenia from a Fiat Dealer or shop4parts.com

The forte flush either on ebay/ fiat dealer/ motorfactor. Put it with your old oil about a week before plan on changing it. The flush gets rid of all the crap to keep the engine running good. Recommended to use everytime you change oil.

imo, purolator and wix filters are the best! good construction and have drain back valves.

stay clear of champion and fram. they are cheap and badly made. ive read reviews online where people have disected them and compared.

if u want to enhance the filtering process get a magnet put on the filter which keeps any fine metal particles from going back into recirculation. I have one of these on my ford escort.

If you want to give it the best then why use an overpriced semi synthetic, seemingly high mileage oil. When you could buy even Magnatec for cheaper than £7/litre.

Personally a 10w40 semi synthetic which motorfactors sell, or even a castrol etc one would be just as good, if not better. And certainly work out a hell of alot cheaper. Its a 1.2 8v not some fragile high performance engine.

The reason Selenia's recommended is that they were part of the FIAT group hence the recommendation.

Also engine flush is advisable, forte is about the best, but plenty of other good ones too. And any good name oil filter, fram etc.

My engine before the Oil change was black oil
I mean black

When i had the oil and filter changed

I had a UNI-Part Filter and Halfrauds 10-40w PS oil :) (got some free screwdrivers tooo! :) )

And the cars been happy since - except cold mornings when the oils a little too thick, and its hard to make the engine want to "Go" once its started

Never had any trouble with mine on Texaco 10w40, I think its semi-synth but it might be fully synthetic

I use 5w40 from motor factors on reccomendation of the fiat mechanic that last serviced my car :)
