I just broke down in my mk1 punto 55s, and wondered if you guys had any ideas....

I put it in gear, and it wouldnt move, felt like i was wheelspinning, and in any gear with the clutch out, it wouldnt move or stall. Gears all seem to feel smooth to get into, and no strange noises or smells.

Any ideas of what this could be, and how much its gonna cost????

Its at the garage now, theyre a good garage who dont overcharge and they hadnt looked at it when i left, theyre gonna ring me, but wanna prepare myself if its gonna be bad news!!

My 55SX's final drive packed in (pinion teeth stripped!), but that made a lot of crunching noises and only had occasional loss of drive. Yours could be something similar, i.e. final drive rather than gearbox itself.

yeah thats whats weird, everything felt normal, the RAC man didnt know what it was either....
