My PUNTO is dead (I think) I crashed it!!!!

Im so destrort my punto is dead!!!
Last week Thursday I was in an accident (I was not hurt).
A pile up to be exact, my poor punto was sandwiched between a Audi A4 and a VW passat.
Why do punto bruse to bad? My car was F***ed and there was hardly a scratch on the Audi.
I think its a right off!!!! Everyone has warned me about getting another punto (when my insurance company, Diamond finally cough up) but I loved my punto (2002) to bits and fancied going for the new shape.
How much you you recon it will be work, punto 1.2 active 2002?
What do you recon and advice would be much apperciated?
If not a punto what other small car is as economical and has benefits?

Thanks to all that post.

i hit a car last year in my punto, my fault was going to fast neway he had a c reg passat and it just scratched his car down the side, 2 long deepish scratches. mine was new front bumper new side panel, new doors as they were buckled and couldnt open new back panel and new indicator.

i had to fork out 400 quid, but im sure it would have cost more, on another note im paying 1800 fully comp, shows you

hMMMM - White car with black wheels! It actually looks pretty good (IMHO) - no silly scoopps or wings - it's got a 'touring car' without the badges look about it - neat!

Here come da judge...

That's because Punto's are small, light Italian cars, whereas A4's and Passats are basically the same car underneath, and they're large and heavy, built like tanks, ugly as sin and worst of all German! [xx(]

Your insurance company should pay out enough to replace the car with another of the same or better age, model and condition, so you can get another one :D

Nah - I'd just leave it as it is and spend the money under the bonnet - as it is, the car looks like it might be quick - it'd be even better if it was.

The only prob is how to do it - like so many say, shoehorning a 1747 twin cam in it will probably be a big (expensive) job. What about a supercharger conversion?

Here come da judge...

J Poshpromo: it depends on the damage to the car. Got any pics? I could tell you pretty instantly from them. This accident was not your fault right? If it wasn't your fault I guess the decision would be kind of out of your hands and with the guilty party's insurance company but would they not find another car for you?

Spirito di Punto | M-reg 55SX, black, 5dr. Clear repeaters. Remote locking fitted.

Re: My PUNTO is dead (I think) I crashed it!!!!

Hi,

If it's not your fault you could claim for a rental car until yours is fixed or you get a pay out.

When my car got driven over by a lorry (Yes driven over !!!), I got a hite car for 2 months until it was sorted and it was paid for by the other persons insurance.

Andy

Re: My PUNTO is dead (I think) I crashed it!!!!

well the new a4 and passat are rather more damage prone then they used to be, if you'd hit a volvo 940/740/340/144 or an old sasb 900/99 etc then your punto would be a complete right off and all would be up with the other car would be the hydroulic buffers in the bumpers would need refilled.
If you were happy with your punto then get another, if not then look at a honda jazz (used) or a fiesta (<1year old) or a hyundai getz, as the getz is a very similar shape and ride to a punto just a little less tin foil like
