The engine on my Mk1 60s burnt out so replaced it with a similar 8V engine, but it just don't seem to start. The code light, iginition light stay on and the relay under the bonnet by the wipers makes a continous ticking sound when i turn the key. put a new battery had the ECU changed by codeman to disable immobiliser but it won't start. It turns over but it don't fire up.

can anyone help? been at it for over a month!

is the earth wire on gearbox?
