Hi Guys,

I brought a Fiat Punto 1.2 16v sporting (X-Reg). Unfortunately I only received one blue key.

Whilst I was at work someone lifted all my keys and to cut a very long story short I now have no keys!!

Fiat have quoted £1250 + VAT.

I have been told by a couple of people that if I present the log book and ID Fiat can re cut a key from codes they already have... Is this true??

If this is not going to be a possible I need to look at alternatives i.e. get parts from another Fiat Punto. I believe I need an ECU, Key code box, new door & boot locks, ignition barrel & new keys. Is there anything else I may need??

My final question is can I get the spares off any mk2 punto or would it have to be a Fiat Punto Sporting??

Thanks for any posts.

you are correct, if you get a matching set of
ECU
code box
all locks
ignition barrel
keys

you can fit them to your car and you wont even need to visit a dealer for programming. this is the cheapest option that will keep a working immob on the car. the only problem is the remote will not work unless you visit a dealer and pay them £65. if you get non-sporting parts the ecu will be different so you really need sporting parts, and it must be a 1.2 sporting not the later 1.4 sporting.

the other option is to get your ecu decoded so the immob no longer works, then get a key cut using one of the locks (any decent locksmith can make you a key from one of your lock barrels). to get your ecu decoded PM reddy4bed or get a quote from codeman.org

no no no wrong

he says it's mk2

if it is mk2 then you can get 2 blue keys and a code card from fiat to program them in they come ready cut from fiat and just need to be programmed with fiat examiner you need 2 two program as one will not work try another dealer they don't know what there talking about

if it's mk1 then you can do something even more clever meaning you don't have to change your locks

so can you just verify if it's mk1 or 2 if you don't have a clue just tell us if it has a city buton

Thanks for the replies. You guys have been very helpful. Its a mk2.

I have just spoken to Fiat and they have told me £77 for each key and £90 for programming.

£166 in total... Not bad!!

Think I paid £30 for programming two keys last year at a Fiat dealer. Total bill was £161 for two keys, code card and programming. I did have a one battered key that came with the car though.

Maybe worth asking Fiat to remove all other keys as well so your old keys won't work and the person who stole your keys can't steal your car as well.

when new keys are programmed to the car any keys that aren't present during programming are deleted from the system anyway theres no choice so no need to worry about this all though once they are removed they can never be re programmed again so be warned

Hi guys, I know this thread is old, but can you tell me if by having a city steering button it makes it a mark 2 punto as I have the same problem. I have no keys for my v reg 2000 punto 8v and need to work out my cheapest option to get it working again as I reeeeally need my car back on the road.

I needed to programme a remote to arm/disarm the alarm, which also locks/unlocks the car rather than the need for starting it, as I CAN get a key cut from Hollywood Locksmith who can copy the transponder and cut a simple key (5 minutes work) for the starting of my car, however, this doesn't cover the arming/disarming, and doors.
