My 1108cc punto engine is on its way out, its blowing oil out of the breather and is starting to make some dodgy noises.i have always been up for waking a bigger punto (GT/sporting) engine in and i can now see my opportunity to do so, but what do u guys think...good idea or should i just get rid of it before the engine goes and get a different one?

how much do new engines cost anyway?

Also if i keep it i wanna fit electric windows and central locking, is this easy to do if it doesnt already have them?

Probably easier to just buy a GT than to try engine swapping. A replacement 1108cc motor shouldn't cost much, probably ~£100 from a scrapper's if you don't need new manifolds/ECU/injection bits etc.

I'm sure someone else can tell you about the engine but I would imagine it would be cheaper to sell it and get a faster car to start with.

As for the central locking and electric windows yes it is possible but both are a pain in the arse and very fiddly, and not even very cheap. I did central locking on a uno, bought a kit for £75 it took ages to fit and wasn't very reliable, I had to keep adjusting everything. Same for the windows I've never done it but there are kits for it, ebay is one place to look if you're after the kits.

Of course the more expensive models already have c/l and e/ws...
