i have a punto 60 sx.
a few days a go it started running really "spluttery" but i thought this might be the exhaust having a hole in it (as this is wat the noise seemed like).

after checking exhaust it was all fine.?
then i noticed on way to workk the the heater wasnt sending any hot air?
and then i see the heat gaugue is in the red.

i stopped at work popped the hood and took off rad cap let some pressure out.

one thing confusing me as well .When i take cap off rad all water is boiling up and it sounds like there is something in there rattling around i wasnt sure if there is some ball cock stop or something?

NO HOT AIR IN A/C
FAN NOT COMING ON
CAR OVER HEATING (QUICK)
RATTLING IN RAD BOTTLE

ANY HELP?????:bang: :bang:

Might have air in the system due to having a leak on the pipes or rad itself thus no hot air in a/c when you open the cap and release the pressure does the temp gauge go down?

yeah i have to stop car and realease pressure if i drive for over 10mins.
the temp goes down. but i hear a rattling noise.

i have the same car and the same problems as you, i think you have to bleed the cooling system because there are some pockets of air trapped inside. i done this but i have a leak somewher in one of the pipes and the red light comes on all the time. make sure you do it properly though, because my coolant pipe has burst open 2 times now. damn puntos

definite definite head gasket failure u guys- the rattling is boiling water in mostly empty water jackets- make sure u fit new thermostats when u renew head gaskets
