Oops,
The update is that I checked all the connections to no avail then out of curiosity I put the old steering module back on.
No charging or speed sensor fault logging.
I think the best thing I can do is buy one of the refurb units with a lifetime warrantee.
Sounds like the scrapyard unit that was fitted was also faulty because the only fault code showing now relates to the motor.
I will update when the new one is fitted.
