Im guessing he means the seatbelt pre tensioner wiring?

yea it just said that the wiring under the drivers seat is badly made and can sumtimes play up. im not sure if its right under the seat or the wiring under the carpet under the drivers seat.apparently that is the problem for the barchetta too.

Hi - have a punto w reg bought for my daughter who has yet to pass her test - lovely to drive but parking the other day the light came on and she could not steer very well - we have been told this is expensive to put right - you say you hve the part and are not too dear??? - can you give me a rough idea - we are not in cardiff but i would drive to you if it is worth it thanks

Hello and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!

It all depends why the PAS has failed, as ther ecan be many reasons. If you use the search button at the top of the page and look for "mk2 power steering" or similar it will bring up lots of information on this, including how to diagnose the problem and potential fixes. If you need a new steering ECU etc then it forms part of the column and you could be looking at around £600.

Having problems with fiat punto steering and wondered if you are still supplying and fitting. We live in Caerleon, Newport so not to far to bring the car.

Wondering if you are still supplying parts and fitting. we have a fiat punto 1.2 active, had a diagnostics test, power steering problem. We are in the Caerleon, Newport area so it would be easy to bring car.

trust me you cannot safely repair these,it needs replacing.

I have a Mk3 Punto on a 55 plate. The power steering warning light has been coming on and off for the past month or so but now continuously stays on, fiat told me that it was a common fault, and quoted me £400 for the part plus labor.

£400 is cheap!

I had steering problem with my 1.2 punto, light on continuously for the past year and steering became stiff now and again. Had diagnostic test at fiat garage - told me it would require steering rack. After reading through Fiat Forum i ordered my part from BBA-REMAN (on Ebay shop) Before doing so i did ring BBA to make sure that i was ordering the correct item. The service from them is fantastic, part arrived the next day. I was lucky enough to find someone to fit it for me at a local garage and together with the MOT he charged £80.00. The part cost me £217.50 that includes postage and packaging, guaranteed for 2 years and they will come and pick up the old part. I am over the moon as the original garage quoted me anything from £650.00. I only recently aquired my laptop and by searching through various sights found the Fiat Forum so i would like to say thanks to everyone who has bothered to post the problems and how they sorted the problem, it has certainly helped me. Thanks once again.

im having a simular problem evey so often the power steering light will have a very very breif flash, my cars still under warrenty, if its the case that something major needs doing how long will i be waiting whilst its repaired???

I would get the car in immediately if its under warranty it will only take a few hours. They will do a diagnostic on it first and they may tell you its something else but after reading through the fiat forum you can tell THEM what the problem is and what has to be done otherwise you will be in and out of the garage. Hi yes we have had this problem and the cost is £600 because it is to doing with powerstering which is electric! This motor powers the stering! There are companies around who can do the job now for £250. Roger MOOREHOUSE IN NORWICH knows a company

Please help, my Grande Punto's steering wheel is making a terrible 'crunching' noise when i'm driving and on damp mornings the power steering keeps going off while i'm driving too, could this be just a loose wire?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I have the same problem with my 2000 1.2 punto, the power steering turns off sometimes when i take sharp turns or am parking. Everything is fine once i turn the car off and on again, but this is just annoying! Is there anyway of fixing this problem cheaply as I just had to spend €220 on a new windscreen wiper motor because it was faulty only 2 months ago. Help!
