Hey guys,

I am test driving a Punto MK2.5 JTD HGT on thursday with every intention of buying it (y)

I wanted the normal petrol HGT but finding one at a dealer proved difficult so with abit of searching and some emotional training to accept a diesel I have set my heart on it!

But the question is... Are they any good? I would consider a remap in future but at the moment will keep in standard as the only reason I am after one is to save some pennys on the finance/fill up costs over the Panda 100HP... which is averaging 28.7 MPG at current

Cheers for any replys!

I would go with the JTD you will get around 42mpg or more probably, is it the 1.9 or the 1.3? The HGT 1.8 is around 28-32mpg so you wouldint really be saving the pennys.

Only thing I will say is prepare to buy a new clutch if you get it remapped, the standard clutch doesn't like coping with the extra power that the remap provides and unfortunately there aren't many uprated clutch options. (n)

The HGT JTD is only on the MK2.5b if I remember correctly and is standard at 100HP and 192 Lb/ft (y) and I have seen something saying the gearbox and clutch is slightly better but I cant find an evidence to support that claim!

For some who dont know the HGT JTD is just a MK2.5b HGT with all the same equipment, same styling but has the diesel lump :D

Sammi.... I was going to keep the Panda 100HP but I still am after something that can save me a few pennys on the Finance and this will so I think I will go for it... Going tomorrow!!!!?!!

Cheers

I can vouch for it, all the performance of a HGT without the running costs.

And more mid range grunt as well, a great drive

Oh but it sounds like a tractor... I like tractors.

Doesn't your engine have solid lifters? You might need to reshim it...

TBH 128 makes for a stable engine, and the car itself can just about handle the torque without torque steer becoming noticable.

you'll still need to uprate the cltuch, which would probably wear out at 80-90k anyway, so just do it then :)

as for gearing, whats different about it? lower revving in 5th gear? or does it have a 6speed?
