My 02 FIAT Punto 1.2 Auto Speedgear upset me again. I could not start it this mornong. I called the recovery. The guy said it is the petrol flooding the spark plug. Justing revving the engine for a minute or so, it was started. The guy said an improper start might have caused the problem. It did not quite make sense to me. I know too little about car I am afaid.
I wonder if anyone can help me with this. What might be the possible reasons for petrol flooding? What is the proper way to start the car? Am I wrong all the way...
Many thanks in anticipation of your kind advice. Regards, E.

don't touch the accelerator before its started. when i first got my car i flooded the engine by having the choke pulled fully out trying to start it on a hot day. you just have to wait for it to drain away. although turning it over enough times will clear it and it will eventually start, though this probably will damage a catalyst.

petrol will evapourate out the engine if you take the plugs out.

I imagine the fault was either you had your foot on the gas or you had a low battery?

Thanks. Do you think I should get the car checked in a garage? What parts should be checked? Honestly, I am always nervous to enter a garage. When you out, it costs you a leg :)

I also think the guy ment that you pressed a gas pedal (pumped it) few times before starting...but this happens with cars that have carburators, and you dont have one right? So, I'm not quite sure....
