Ive had my car a few months and now, the engine is stalling when the clutch is down or when in neutral. This can be avoided by applying some revs or changing gear quick.

When this happens I can turn the engine off then on again and it might be alright, but the idle sound is still not healthy.

Any idea what this could be?

Any help much appreciated.

Umm sounds like engine timeing or cambelt etc. Could also be dirty plugs not giving a powerfull spark. Take it into a small local garage for a "tune up" and say that you have this problem and they can probally sort it out cheaply.

Might be the Syncromesh on the gearbox, It's a disc that spins inside your gearbox when in neutral. If that is sticking or not oiled, then it has the same effect as leaving it in gear?

Probably isn't this cos i know little about cars and i'm probably completely wrong. Hope i am because anything to do with gearbox's aint cheap. Has anyone else got any ideas?
