Just thought i'd tell you that 'cos i guess no one can really hepl without knowing it.Aaaanyway.To the point.

Today i started the car and there was a squeeking noise coming from what sounded like under the passenger seat stair well. There's a possibility that it's the CD player and i'll look really silly, but any other suggestions? It didn't sound as loud as when bearings go (you know when you turn a corner and there's a loud screech)

It's not really a problem i don't think, just something i'd like to know.

Also...while i'm here:
Handbrake warning light is always on :/
Sometimes doesn't go into second gear :/

Ta.:yum:

handbrake light always on could be you need to top up the brake fluid.
The reservoir is located on the left of the engine bay near the bulkhead...it's got a button on top and 2 wires coming from it.

gearbox oil level may need checking how ether mine resists second first time around when the weather is cold you could try a thinner gearbox oil I have put 80/90 fully synthetic in mine and it seems to love it gear changes are much smoother
the only thing down the passenger side is the fuel cut off switch but I cant imagine that making such a noise

The squeeking noise only seems to appear when there's rain. Still can't think what it'd be!
Thanks for all your suggestions though.I'll give them a go(y)

are you sure the squeaking isn't coming from under the bonnet or inside the right hand wing depending on year and model I think yours will be under the bonnet sometimes the evaporative loss control valve can squeak when in operation due to the fuel vapour being sucked through it buy the vacuum in the inlet manifold
it is located at the front of your car it is a pop bottle sized canister with the vent hose from your fuel tank going into it and another blue hose coming out there is also an electrical connector on it you could try unplugging it and see if the noise goes away this wont affect your engine at all but if it does go away then you could get a new valve

if it is this there isn't much point in getting a new valve as it isn't faulty just squeaking it still does it's job but if it annoys you you can it's up to you

Definatelly the left side.Doesn't seem to affect anything so i guess it must be a passive noise.
Thanks all.

ive got the same problem and it only started yesterday afternoon after it tipped it down!
Also theres now a clicking sound which started this morning. i also was doing the air conditioning and the button that circulates air around the car when thats half pressed in the sound stops.

I narrowed my noise down to the CD player. Not for certain but it's the only thing i could think of.
