recently bought lowtecguys manifold and cat from him, after fitting it i drove back to bedford from london, and there has been a weired noise ever since. As i have never had an aftermarket manifold before i am not sure what it should sound like, sounds like a small blow but when we were under the car it did not make the noise, it is only when in motion, especially on quick acceleration.

Can anyone describe what sort of noise a supersprint maniflold and sports cell200 cat should sound like. The rest of the exhaust is a powerflow one from exhaust uk. Before it was a slightly deeper purr, not very loud but not quiet. Now the whole system seems very loud

anyone?

sorry the writting looks abit much,

just wanting to know how much difference soundwise the manifold and cat should make. It must be fitted right as the performance is a definate increase

It does make the system louder.

I had supersprint with it and supersprint on its own is bordering on standard sound, with the manifold and cat it was much louder like a performance system should be.

But the stainless steel on your exhaustuk system was not bending well under the clamps we used. So as suggested at the time, just get a place like kwikfit to maybe put another clamp on the join as well to make sure it isn't leaking. Perhaps even exhaust uk can tig weld them together permenatly?

Tubular manifolds will be louder because they are thinner than cast iron ones - what you are hearing is combustion noise carried by exhaust gases. It's the way it is :shrugs: live with it if you want the extra performance. One reason manufacturers use cast iron ones is because they insulate sound better, the other is 'cos they are very cheap to produce.

Sounds like you've got a small joint leak, sort it with a clamp or whatever ?

cool, i tried quickfit the morning after and they wouldnt touch it, took it up to forumula one and they replaced me the rubber (the one we struggled to get on) with a bigger one. For the first 30 seconds i thought it had solved the problem as it did quieten it down alot. Still pretty loud he did say there was a tiny hole where we joined the centre to the cat but said in time the carbon deposits will block this up? does this sound correct?

Also said that the ball joint may need some time to get a tight fit

I will take it to exhaust uk as i trust those guys alot more than the formula 1 guy. Well ill take it back if the place isnt flooded like most areas of sheffield/rotherham are at the mo.

Defo happy with the performace factor tho LTG cant wait for re-maps and other stuff

Any chance of getting a video / sound recording of what it sounds like then mate?

I take it you fitted a new manifold gasket? There a compression gasket which 'should' only be used once.

yes we did get new ones its defo not at the manifold join that all seems good im convinced its something to go with either the ball joint where the manifold connects to the cat or the other side of the cat to the centre pipe, i get a deep noise but then i also get a sorta loud airleeky sorta noise, which i dont think the manifold would make.

I cant find my lead for the noise/viedo clip but will post one soon when i find it, the noise only starts when i move when i am stationary it is fine.

Mine sounds very raspy when cold but then quietens down when warm.
