Hi everyone, My girlfriend is looking to buy her first car, and has now set her eyes on a automatic 96 punto, the only problem is they gearbox is shot. How expensive would a new automatic gearbox be and are they hard to replace? (e.g. will I need a ramp or is it possible to do myself?)
Thanks
Werner

or better still save up for mk2 punto auto as they have a better auto box in them

 there as bad dave, i keep seeing the mk2 autos on ebay with broken gearbox/clutch :(

you will be better off with a manual tbh, the clutches have been known to go as little as 19k! but have been known to go as high as 90k! its a bit of a grey area on puntos (n)

Hi there, are they easy to find in scrappy's as i have tried ebay but cant find any autoboxes, and how much would a scrappy charge? Dont wanna spend more on the car than its worth. And also, it it a difficult job in itself or now?
I have hayens manual for punto, so should help a bit, but would like more info, eg, is it a simple disconnect, lift, replace and re-connect or is there more involved?
Thanks for all the advice and help
Werner
