I have a 1998 punto leaking fluid from the bell housing I found this...

Do punto`s have a core plug as well under the top of the gearbox?

Just read that thread, the guys there did not seem to know the pupose of the core plug, for those that dont know its where the original core of glued together sand was fixed into the casting medium (probably more sand). Not to blow out when you freeze the engine up!. Oh and yes there will be a core plug there behind the flywheel, someone on here last week fixed one in 3 hours.

I though it was there to blow out if the pressure gets too high?

I take it , he just split the box rather than pull it right out...

I was going to pop the driveshaft , but I will look a bit closer.....

Got a hole in my sump ,is that a common problem?

Manufacturers dont go to machining costs unless its really needed... radiator pressur cap relieves water jacket pressure.
