Hi all. New member with usual first post. :)

I'm off to look at an 05 54plate Punto 1.2 active sport for the wife tomorrow. I've been doing the usual research tonight, looking at reader reviews on What Car and Parkers. I have to say it doesn't make pleasant reading. Clutches and PAS steering faults seem to be favourite.

The car has 24000m and is due a service. It would seem that I would be looking at around £200 for that.

The reviews have made me a little nervous, but I know that satisfied owners rarely make themselves known. So the question is, should I be worried and how problematic are the clutch/pas issues. What else should I look for when examining it.

Mrs quietlife really likes the look of the car (I do too). It looks mint in red and I'd love to buy it for her. As it's going to be carrying my two kids around, I need to know it's not got systematic faults.

Many thanks in advance and I hope I'm worrying about nothing.(y)

I have one, although pxing it tomorrow. Nothing to do with it giving me problems I just want something bigger and faster.

Only problem I have had are a few electrical gremlins. The airbag, pas and abs warniong lights. These where all fixed under warranty.

Well I'm off to see it in a few hours. Can anyone offer an advice.

Hi, first thing is look at the dash once its running check for any warning lights on, then make sure the city button works keep it on while you take it for a test run (carefull though as its really light) also test all the other gadgets in the car like fan, AC, boot lever ect.. Under the bonnet, make sure theres no whiteness under the oil cap, check the bonnet catch isnt rusted, try listen make sure the radiator fan is kicking in, on the roof of the car check under the rubber strips for signs of rust, check all the lights, windows, wipers, thats it really if you find any problems or noises post back here if your concerned.
