i just got a letter from Reg Vardy Stockton saying SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN 4400 BRAKE PIPES, oh dear me.

it says:

Dear customer
safety recall campaing 4400 brake pipes.
fiat has made us aware that your vehicle has a safety recall outstanding, could you please contact me as soon as possible to arrange a convenient date.
we look forward to hearing from you soon, please ring the service department when we will carry out the work free of charge.

should i be ever so slightly worried by this????

It's an old recall all mine have been done now.
But seems like they have sent out another batch of letters recently.

2 of mine needed just a coating and 1 needed replacement pipes.

It's free and its a quick job so nothing to worry about (y)

If anyone reading this doesn't think that their mk1 has been done, a quick call to your nearest dealer will confirm and if it hasn't they will book it in for you. :)

Any chance you can get it done by Wentane instead? :p

I dont get it, please explain

I get on much better with the parts guys from Wentane. I've spoken a few times with one of the techs there and the service manager has been with them years.

Reg vardy's is swamped with Kias :yuck: and don't even have a real parts desk. They told a friend buying a Stilo that the car he had put a deposit on had been written off on the way to the garage and would he like this one instead?

Basically they're slimey where as Wentane are much friendlier.

well i got a letter off them and theyre doing it for free

I'd be cheeky and phone wentane and ask if they would do it :p

Remember it's FIAT uk who are paying, the garage get the money for doing the work :)

Upto you though. That's just my experience with Reg Vardy. P.s. you have pm. Although a big popup prob already told you. :spin:

 ........quick? changing every brake pipe on the car.

yes it is actualy about 2 hours for 1.1 and 1.2 petrols i have done a good few of em but when you get into the relms of turbos and turbo diesels it can get a litle scraty also if you hapen to own a seside special there a bit troublesome

the reasone for the recall is that some pipes are coroding in the plastic clips were they rub above the fuel tank were they cant be seen during an mot there fore the cars are becoming dangerouse if left unchecked

i think it's amazing fiat are changing brake pipes on cars over 10 years old for free how many manufactures are doing that

someone before said you can have it done at any fiat dealership i whould just like to confirm this he is quite right it is up to you wich is the most convienient for you
