Hi, i am currently looking at to buy the MK2 Fiat Punto's,
I own a MK1 punto, for 2 years now, without any really big problems,
But i've heard quite alot of bad things about the MK2 punto,
Do you reckon i should risk and Buy the MK2?

You take a risk buying any used car...

you hear bads things about all cars, the MK1 is far from perfect too.

Diesel is the best...

buy it, there nothing that can go wrong, that couldnt on the mk1, apart from eletric pas

only things to worry about in general are the PAS thing (you can get factory recon units at half price, but theres still fiat labour to pay to fit it).


and er, dodgy ecu's/body computers, seems most problem can be fixed by simply disconnecting battery for a couple of hours.

I just don't like them, they are better made than mk1s (overall), interior fittings like seat latchs on rear bench for one, the ride is better and quieter, handling, erm, pretty pointy, again, probably more refined than a mk1.

dont' bother with teh 1.2 8v, their so std

find a 1.2 16v at least, or REALLY push and find a 1.9jtd/td, really worth it IMO< although i don't own one, as I can't afford to suddenly be without a car unless I immediatly fork out £550 (PAS)

I got one...been in family from new (4 years) never gave a problem

My MK2 Sporting is in with FIAT... PAS...

our 2 have had no problems i should add apart from normal every car bits

In my 4 or 5 years of owning one the only failure has been the PAS

brought with 18k on the clock and now over 80k...
