Yesterday my rear exhaust box fell off my Punto mk 2. It had been blowing for about a week and on inspection looked to have a hole around the rear seam of the box.
It has broken from the pipe immediately where it joins the box.
I had ordered a rear replacement box which has arrived and I intend to fit it tomorrow.
I have a suspicion that the exhaust system is one piece? and am wondering if anyone can help me with their experience of fitting the new piece.

I have a ramp available. Might it be easy to fit this bit? What should I be looking out for?
What tools should I have?
This is pretty much the first thing to have gone wrong with the car since I bought it from nearly new and it has been great so far.

Any help would be REALLY appreciated.

Thanks

Same thing happened to my punto mk2, and to 2 other people i know (who have a punto Mk2). i personally just left mine without the back box (I like the sound :) :) :) ) but im sure you can get it fixed for pretty cheap.. i believe it a whole piece from the rear box to somewhere near the gear linkage. I was thinking of having my back box jus twelded back to the pipe from where it broke...

that happened to both of mine recently, the weld on the seem just falls away, the rear section is bolted on with i think 2 13mm bolts, and hanging on 2 rubber mounts.,
you'll be needing a basic ratchet set, a wire brush coz the bolts are usually corroded, and probably a bit of WD40, shouldnt take ya longer than 15-20mins to do.,(y)
make sure to check the rubber hanger on the middle section of the exhaust,., the hook for that on mine was bent so the rubber slipped of.,(y)

When I connect the back box to the existing pipe will I need to seal the connection? If so what do you recommend?
Thank you for your help.
