Hiya all,

I have a 8v MKII MPI 1242cc Punto and was wondeing can the heads be changed out easily enough?? As I have abuddy who is a mechanic and can do it for me fairly cheaply. If it can be done is there much work envolved and can it be run off the same ECU, probably not as there are double the valves I am guessing??

Cheers,

Damien.

Crank pulley is different.
crank sender is in a different position.
Pistons are different.
con rods are different
exhaust down pipe is different
16v block has crankshaft brace
16v has different final diff

Apart from that they are the same.:D
Engine swap is straightforward with minor niggles:D
Better off using a 75 head - although that swap I haven't done.

The supercharged thread uses a 16v lump in a Punto 60s mk1

Cheers for the informed post much appreciated:)

I think I will just save up and get a HGT instead:D

The compression in the 16v engine (MK2)is slightly higher than in 8v(MK2 also) engine too isnt it?

ye you cant have too much compression, apart from making you pistons holy, youll have knocking... you know, the suel and air mix combusts before the spark... do you use higher octane rated fuel?

More compression = more power :) :) :) some hondas are 12:1!!!

Ya but most Vtec Hondas are meant to be run on Jap 100 Octane fuel, if not they loose a good bit of power in general as the ECU will retard the timing to such an extent.

ye the fuel we have in malta is terribly rated i believe its 89 or 90....
