need help with my 1.2 punto 8 v 02 punto... i just had my punto in dealership and it take back with error with engine saying misfiring and the electrics where tested now 3 weeks on i have the little yellow engine light on its on for long periods then will go but can be on all day and go off for a little time..


i got told that the engine could of had a air lock or something or other more worrying the head gasket could be on its way out... need some well advised expert to aid me ... any suggestions.....the car will run but i feel it jerking a little and more so when i get my speed up..


its had the radiator bled and it has had new spark plugs put in and has had checked on the diagnostics machine.... that came back misfiring so thats why new spark plugs. any ideas? my oil is low but could shouldnt that show the oil indicator?

If its misfiring and you have tryed new spark plugs, i would replace the HT leads then see how it runs, could also be a faulty coil pack maybe even the lambda sensor could cause this, just trial and error im afriad..

it does not misfire it starts pretty much straight away so dont think its that.... i had checked out and i got told possible head gasket!!! but got told if it misfired from cold could be that but aint doing that.. it just making funny and erractic movements when running seem not to be running smooth

Chill out! Was the error codes for misfire (P0300?) sounds like a HT lead or lambda sensor or possibly a TPS. You will need to get codes read again as might not be same fault.

Ok when your car starts straight away this dosnt mean anything really, misfring means when your car is running it will judder/poor throttle response ect, if your head gasket has gone i dont think the EM light would be on, whats the temp guage like at the momeant..

well dont know error code but would the jumpy and erractic movement be due to the lambda sense.. whats TPS? O brother

well it does not show temp that im aware of! but my oil is low... i know that for certain

Throttle Posistion Sensor........I still suggest you get the error codes read otherwise your just guessing as to what the fault is.

would the garage have the error codes? well im going to put it in the garage this week ... another £20 to get looked at ) grrrr... not good when el skinto

Ok if your punto dosnt have a temp gauage its a little red light you have to worry about when that comes on, then thats when your got overheating problems and could be the head gasket, problem at the momeant is a misfring i would get your HT leads replaced first as ive siad above and listen to T1 he works for Fiat.. :yum:
