I have a problem with my electrical window on the driverside. It sometimes goes up when I press down. Also it will try to go up and down in the same time making it rattle. If it is in the closed position it takes sometimes 2 times pressing the button before it goes down.

Anyone experiencing the same? Thanks!

Mine has started doing this yesterday. It almost seems like its sticking in the top of the door frame when the window is fully up. But it also goes in the wrong direction when you press the switch as if the poles are reversed although it doesnt do it when you try to re-create it! (Which is gonna be a pain to prove if it has to go back to the dealer) It sends my brain mad when im trying to send the window down and it goes up.

Sounds strange but check the white connector is correctly seated in the drivers door switch panel, just lift panel up.

I have the same problem because it will work perfectly when you try to show it to the dealer.:p That's the reason I will hold on bringing it in and see if there are more people with this problem. The more people that has been to the dealer with this the more chance that he has a ready made solution for it and will just do what needs to be done and no questions asked. Same goes for my sticky backdoors, turnsignal problem and my steering wheel that sometime vibrates a little when standing in front of a traffic light for example.

Thanks, I will take a look tomorrow. Is this system conrolled by the computer or is it standalone. Because it detects the removal of the ignition key.

The windows operate with the ignition on,however the windows can still be operated for a further 3 minutes(power latch period).

Sorry should off added the anti-trap (in this case hall sensor) is part of the motor, sounds as if you guys need new motors unless the runners are dirty/something is causing a resistance on the glass/mechanism.

I was hoping it was just a slight glitch on my car that would just go away.

But its looks like its some manufacturing fault in the switch or electrics if more than one person is facing the same problem.

Yeah I think ill wait till the window refuses to open or close before I take it back to the dealer as Ive only done 500miles so far.

Does the window switch just pull out?

Edit sorry im such a slow typer that T14086 has already replied with the answer doh!

Oh just remembered theres a guide fitted to the glass on the 'B' pillar side(dont try & remove it!)that can give problems(resistance),you can try lubricating the runners otherwise its dealer time.

(yes switch panel lifts up,small screwdriver in the opening at front of panel)

But in the first post you said it sounds strange. Did you meant my problem or the fact that it's probably the connector?

Do I understand it right that you had 3 cases where the connector was fitted wrongly?

sounds strange but check connector.....as it you might wonder why you are checking the connector(fact it might be the connector not the problem),& yes had 3 cases of connector not clipped in correctly.

Ah ok then I understand. Sorry but I'm not native English speaking. Thanks!(y)

When you had the 3 cases was it doing the same like our problem?

One was doing strange things, other was not going up/down all the time when switched pressed other wasn't working at all(connector had fallen off switch)I suspect your problem is with the motor though but worth a quick look.

Well this morning it was working fine for 15 min. when I was driving and after that it started to do strange again sometimes. I checked the connector and it was fitted in correctly. I took the connector out and in a couple of times just to make sure there is no contact resistance.

Let's hope it fixed it but I have my doughts.

Thanks for your help T14086.;)

Sounds very similar to a problem you can get on VW/Seat/Skoda's, the body control module get confused and reverses the switch. Have you tried disconecting the battery to see if that clears the problem?

After I re-fitted the connector I still had the problem. Today I didn't have the problem and all worked fine.

I have a theory what could be causing this problem:

When I came from the gym it had been raining and when I drove away I opened my window to get some air. What did I see? Drops of rain coming from the roof dripping exactly on the switchpanel and going directly inside the switch compartment:

(remember that this picture is taken from the left door since in Holland we have the steering wheel on the left. So the arrow is the window side)

It could be that the electronic circuit inside the switch gets somewhat shortcutted by the water or even the residu of it causing the signals to be distorted thus resulting in strange behaviour.

This would also explain why this problem is on the drivers side since that is the window you will most likely open if you need air or if your reaching for your burgers in the drive-in creating an open path if it's raining. Also I saw that the rainwater was mostly dripping in the switch for the driver side what could explain why the passengers side switch located on the driver side is not acting strange. Another reason for this could be the layout of tracks inside the switch element.

The fact that this problem with the window is very intermittend would only proof it more.

When I think about it I had no problem with all the warm weather that we had lately and since we started to get some rain last week I have it so now and then.

This is just a theory but for the people that have this window problem please keep an eye on it and let me know your experiences.

Thanks.
