I've been looking to replace my set of tyres, 3 are on about 2mm and my other one is a budget one is just a really bad tyre,

I've been spending hours looking at this where I've checked online by the reg and I'm getting two possible sizes

the first one is 175 65 15r 88h and the second one is 185 65 15r 88h

Currently I have the 185 ones however the all season tyre I'm after is on the 175.

I've checked my handbook and it's very confusing as it's saying the 1.4 which has alloys shows both tyres.

My car a 2011 fiat punto evo active 77bhp and I got this car second hand and ive got the manual and now im worrying cause I stupidly purchased the tyres I'm after but its 175. and idk if that was the tyre that was factory fitted when the car first left the showroom.

Any help will be appreciated and I may call the fiat dealer tomorrow if I don't find an answer

I really don’t know what you are worrying about. Both tyres will be fine. You may find a slight softer ride with the 185s but it will be minimal. Fit and forget, you are worrying needlessly.

Actually I would be a bit concerned that you’ve let the tyres worn down so low.

It is such a small difference, if you were doing 90 mph on the car with 175 tyres then the same car with 185 tyres would be doing less than 2mph more at the same indicated 90mph.

This difference shrinks the slower you go so at 30 mph, the car with bigger 185 tyres would be doing 30.4mph.

This is the only difference, as you already have the bigger tyres on your car (and we use the term bigger loosely as the difference is tiny)

Then going down to a very slightly smaller size would result in your speedometer under reading a fraction on what it does now.

To be honest your current "bigger" tyres if worn down to only 2mm of tread may be exactly the same size as a brand new 175 tyre, honestly it really won't make any difference.

See below picture for a comparison of the tyres, or search the net for tyre size calculator.

Smaller or bigger.. its just a little bit wider

I have GP's with 175 and a 2012 with 185

The wheels are interchangeable and you feel no difference :)
