2011 Fiat Punto Evo GP 1.4 16V MultiAir Actuator issue

Morning All,

I'm looking for some help please. For approx 6 years or so we've had a 2011 Fiat Punto Evo GP 1.4 16V MultiAir (non turbo).

The issue is for a good few years now I've had engine issues.

The common bubbling when starting the car, loss of power and engine cut out, opens up when it gets warm.

I have a regular oil change with the correct oil around every 6K. The engine will run fine once this is done for a couple of days and back to the old bubbling with a permanent engine management light.

I'm going to be honest it's ran like this for 3-4 years now with all the above issues and I've dealt with it, however, I'd like to get it sorted!

I've changed the MAP sensor which didn't work and after reading various threads I believe this could be potentially fixed without replacing the whole multiair actuator unit? Is this correct?

I've seen I cqn buy a multiair oil strainer as well, however, I don't think this alone will fix the problem!

Appreciate your help in advance

You need to get the fault codes cleared as it’s been years, then run the car then check the codes again to see what’s actually currently the problem.

Swapping bits never works but will quickly ruin your bank balance.

I like Charlie have no idea what you mean by “bubbling” is it misfiring? Coil problem who knows, fault codes is always the place to start

Re: 2011 Fiat Punto Evo GP 1.4 16V MultiAir Actuator issue

Many thanks for the replies. I've had the codes cleared and they come back on. Bubbling I mean missfire, the revs are terrible, the engine stutters and has no power when I turn the car over and it seems it only opens up and gets power after driving for 5-10 minutes.

I can't remember what the code is so will need to get it checked, think it's a missfire on one of the coils.

After 5-10 minutes if I turn the engine off and on again quickly when driving this sometimes helps.

Does anyone know if the multiair actuator can be repaired or does the full unit need replacing?

Many thanks

Misfire..
We want the Code ideally

A specialist in the South Of England had gaskets made up that replaced the leaky original.. saving @£500 per car
