I had a sudden loss of ESP...initially I received ESP and hill holder fault indications. Then these indications disappeared along with all dashboard indications like RPM, Speed, clock, odometer, fuel. Also lost is the stop/start feature and ASR indication.

All the electrics work except my brake lights. Side and headlights main and dipped work and indicators also work but with no audible. The car runs!

Its a Fiat Punto Evo 1.3 diesel 2012 (not 2012 onward)

Any ideas folks?

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Peter,

I had the same issue on my evo at the start of the year, turned out to be the brake light switch on the brake pedal. I bought a replacement from GSF car parts, fitted it and that solved it.

Hope this helps.

Jack,

Further to my reply via email a note to keep the thread live.

Many thanks for the suggestion, I'll let you know after I fit the replacement brake switch.

Regards

Peter

Jack,

I fitted the replacement brake switch to no avail. Time to call in the professionals and they found the fault. It transpired that the wiring loom to the back end was bared/shorting due to the opening/closing of the tailgate. So bad that it was blowing the 15A fuse. Anyway although it cost me a not required brake switch I'm overjoyed that it wasn't the TCM which I was told would have cost me around £500.00.
Thanks for your input which hopefully will help others.

Regards
