Hi to all,
I own a 2011 1.4 Petrol Punto Evo for 2 years now. I'm having this problem simce day 1. And there it is:
When I start the car, the ASR/ESP light is turned on on dash and i get the ASR, ESP and Hill Holder failure massages.
Now - if i turn the engine off, and turn it back on it will disappear and everything works perfectly! Important to say that ABS works fine.

As i said I'm having this problem for 2 years now, so i looked it up several times. The options i came up with are:

1. Spiral Clock Spring problem - some said it might be the problem since sometimes the Steering Wheel light also turns on with the Check Steering Wheel warning. It happens about once or twice a week, i turn the steering 2 times and it disappears - does not affect the ASR/ESP problem.

2. Breaks problem - some Fiat mechanic told me it might be be cause of a back breaks light circuit shorted. About that i know i have a crack on both back lights plastics. He also suggested the I might have a problem with something called Braking Unit.

3. A breaking sensor problem behind the breaking pedal - may be, i do know that the loghts work fine.

Anymore thoughts? Anyone experienced that restart engine fix and have solved it?

Hi.. :)

What have you tried..?

If turning off and on 'fixes it'
Its not a major problem ;)

Check power circuit..

The most obvious solution is to get all the codes from all the various modules read by a computer to see what the car is seeing, anything other than that is going to be guess work.

Old codes not cleared can cause ongoing problems with other systems. So getting everything looked at, reset and then see if any fault codes come back is really the only way to tell.
