I recently bought a fiat punto evo sporting 2011.
There is a very unusual thing happening. Whenever I turn the wheel to the right, a relatively loud noise comes from in front somewhere. The noise is like a whirring creaking noise. It does happen when I turn left, and when I turn on city mode, the noise goes away completely. I suspect it has something to do with power steering or something in the suspension system or something connected to wheel?

Anyone actually know what the problem may be and how much it may cost to fix or if I should fix at at all?

Thank You!

Hi. :)

Very unusual..

Well.. its probably the the upper strut bearing..

On the 2006 to current models
the big bearing between the spring and the cars bodywork gets sticky..and moves in a series of jerks

Sometimes you get a 'boing'from the spring

To replace the 2 bearings is probably £100/£150 in a garage.

On a recent purchase I would wait until youve used it more.. they can free off a little with use.. or drier weather..;)

When is the MOT due?

Charlie

Hi,
Luckily I found the problem and it was actually nothing that I expected it to be. It was a bit of plastic sticking into the wheel arch and the tyre was therefore rubbing against causing the horrible noise. Just thankful it wasn't anything big

So city mode was just coincidence..?
You know I was thinking the same thing. I am not sure why it stopped when I put it in city mode. Mind you, I tried it a few times and the results yielded successful 95% of the time, the odd small quiet and momentary creek would occur sometimes

You were throwing us quite the curve ball with the city mode diagnosis.:D

Glad you could find and fix the issue yourself though(y)
