Hi All,

I am looking for some advice with a issue i have with my boot. Out of the blue it just wouldn't open, then it would first time but not the second, then is was working when I closed the boot half way now it has completely stopped but the lights still flash when i press the button on the Key Fob but nothing happens when i press the Fiat badge to open it.

So i took the plastic cover off the boot and checked the cables and connectors they all look fine, I unplugged them and re-plugged them back in this then blew the fuse. :bang:

Do i need to replace the boot lock and if so where can i get one from and is it easy to do.

Thanks in Advance :slayer:

Chances are you have a broken wire or two between the boot and the car, there is a bundle of wires in a rubber conduit that connects the body of the car to the boot hatch electrically. In a lot of Fiat’s from this era the wires insulation breaks down cracks and fatigues and the wires become exposed and short out. This is probably why you ended up blowing a fuse when you where trying to fix it. So you need to by hand unlatch the boot to open it and then access the wires

Thanks Andy

I don't think I am confident enough to start taking the wires apart might be a trip to the garage.

Well found the broken wires but found other issues to badge lock is broken ? and the rubber conduit that connects the body of the car to the boot had to be cut to repair wiring , anyone know if you can get replacement or how to repair thanks ?
