Hi all

I am still struggeling with a car that refuses to start, but have found some details that might give you guys a clue

the main problem is that no diesel is fed to the high pressure pump, or more precisely the pump just pushes it through the return pipes

When turning on the ignition the low pressure builds pressure, but the diesel just returns to the tank - if i remove the return line to the tank the diesel flows nicely through the pump, but somehow some kind of "return i open" = fuel simply returns to the tank instead of through the HP pump

i read on the panda forum with the car that refused to start and here the issue was a bad fuse - have checked all my fuses and all seem ok - but perhaps the fault is a relais - just have no idea how to test this

borrowed a bosch fiat tester on friday and it shows no errors

i did the BIG investigation into all wires, fuses and Relais and had everything measured out to eliminate electrical errors

Finally after this was all completed without errors decided to double check timing on the motor only to discover that the intake cam shaft had snapped

Pretty sure that is the cause of my problem :)

New part ordered now just awaiting delivery :)

Will let you know if successful after installation

I would be careful just changing the cam shaft and expecting all to be well. The cam shaft drives the high pressure fuel pump so had the pump seized causing it to snap, or did something break in the cylinders causing the camshaft to jam. Also are the valves and rockets all ok, as these are sacrificial parts that may have broken is valves did meet the cylinders. The other possible problem is oil starvation leading to the cam shaft to seize

yeah I am aware that a camshaft will cause further damage, the actual damage caused to the camshaft was due to the vacuumpump which blocked completely thereby destroying the pulley to which it is connected

I removed the valve cover today and had to change 2 rockers + get a new pulley for the cam -rest of the enigine is fine - could have been much worse

Parts should arrive latest on friday so hope to have the car up and running again by the weekend

:)
