I have recently bought a Fiat Punto Evo 2012-model. Just before delivery, the seller replaced oil and oil filter.

However, it seems like he didn't reset the oil replacement counter, cause the oil light has just started flashing.

I have tried resetting the counter with Multiecuscan, but haven't had any luck so far.

Will I damage the car if I just keep driving with the light flashing? I know that oil and filter has been replaced already, but somebody mentioned that it might not clean the particler filter, if the engine think it needs an oil change..

Is it a diesel?

There are several things to reset with a DPF equipped diesel ;)

Yes its a diesel. I have an OBD that works very well with the car through torque on android. However, i Havent suceeded in connecting the device to multiecuscan on Windows. Program finds device, i just cant get it to connect.

Problem might just be that i have no idea what to choose as 'control module' in the program. Think i have tried them all though..

Can i look it up with vin number?

I made this thread about the issue:

Anyway. My biggest concern is whether it Will damage the car if i dont get the warning reset. Any ideas about that? :)

Elm cable into com port

F9 : settings

Scan for devices.. should tun through..and say ok

If that works.

Connect to car..with ignition on

SCAN - will list :

Engine

ABS

STEERING

Check the ECU specs ;) then select these in the dropdown

Body. Engine. Ecu spec.

Then CONNECT :)
