I’ve just driven my APE esseesse for the first time in a week as I’ve been away. Tried to defrost the screen but the blowers are dead? I presume it’s not the fuse as everything else with fuse 10 seems ok. Googling it, it appears to be a common problem on the Grande Punto with a quick replacement of the resistor under the passenger footwell. I can’t find it in the Evo so could anyone point me in the right direction. Any ideas appreciated ?

If youve got CLIMATE there is no resistor

So.. do the flaps move.. just no fan ?

I didn’t notice the sound of the flaps moving but can’t swear on it. I’m in work at the mo so can’t check.

The climate control doesn't use a resistor, it uses what's called a PWM module (pulse width modulation) it basically turns the power to the fan on and off rapidly to alter the speed of the motor.

If they fail then the only option is a replacement, however unlike a resistor they don't cost £10, however I have been looking around and Vauxhall Corsa's use the same basic heater system as the punto and the PWM for a Corsa can cost about £30 - 40, I don't know specifically if they fit and work but its better than the £350 fiat will charge you for a new module.

Hi, I’ve removed the ducting and the three hex head screws. The heavy metal variator(if that’s the right name)has dropped out but the fan isn’t coming out. I don’t want to use too much force in case I’ve left some fixing in. Any ideas?

My bad, I missed the hex screw at the back. Good news is I tested the fan on the battery and was ok. I’ve put it back in and it’s working. Thanks to all for their help ?
